Personal, Social and Health Education
PSHE Intent
Through our cohesive whole-school approach, we aim to provide an inclusive, relevant and purposeful curriculum that will enable our children to become confident, independent and responsible members of society and the global community. We immerse children in emotional language equipping them with the skills to deal with a range of situations. We will aid children to build resilience and nurture personal well-being through the use of our Coram scheme of learning and Protective Behaviours.
Protective Behaviours
As part of the school's PSHE programme, we teach Protective Behaviours every year through the Taking Care Project, which is used by many schools across Warwickshire.
The programme is designed to equip the children with skills to help them understand that they have the right to feel safe; identifying that there are times when it is fun to be scared, (for example on a fairground ride), but recognising and being able to act upon their increased awareness of their 'Early Warning Signs' when they are in an uncomfortable situation.
The programme gives children strategies to help themselves and to identify a network of people who can help them.
