Harvest Festival - October 2025

What a truly magnificent and heartfelt Harvest Service we shared! The church was absolutely filled with joy and gratitude, and it was wonderful to see so many parents and carers join us to support the children and celebrate the season of plenty. We were also delighted to formally welcome Reverend Larry Wright for his very first service with the school—his presence made the occasion even more special.

The children's performances were outstanding, and their enthusiasm was infectious! Hedgehog Class melted our hearts with their lively and entertaining rendition of "Dingle Dangle Scarecrow," bringing huge smiles to everyone's faces. Squirrel Class delivered a brilliant performance based on the beautiful story of Omu and her generous stew, powerfully illustrating the importance of sharing and community spirit. Finally, Owl Class gave us a very enjoyable and informative portrayal of the farmer's year, reminding us of the effort that goes into the harvest. Great efforts were made by all the classes, and the service reinforced a vital message about appreciation and sharing.

A huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone for the incredible generosity of your food bank donations. The sheer volume of non-perishable goods collected was overwhelming and will make a tangible difference to local families. It is fantastic to partner with the food bank, a truly worthwhile cause that helps us put our faith and compassion into direct action for our community. Thank you for helping us live out our vision of kindness and responsibility!

Harvest

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for the Harvest Church Service. We welcomed Reverend April Gold, Diocesan Director of Education at Coventry Diocesan Board of Education to lead our first Harvest Festival Service since joining the Stour Federation Multi Academy Trust.  The children all did a wonderful job reading, reciting and even singing their own song written about Autumn!

" It was a joy and a privilege to celebrate harvest with the children and families of Wilmcote CofE Primary School in the beautiful and historic St Andrews Church. We enjoyed thinking about creation and giving thanks for those who grow and produce the food we eat. We also enjoyed singing the Harvest Samba! The children's generous gifts will go to Stratford Foodbank. Wilmcote CofE Primary School and St Andrews Church have worked in partnership since 1841 when they were built to serve the local community, making them the oldest school in the Diocese to still occupy its original site. Wilmcote entered into a new partnership in September by joining the Stour Federation enabling it to work more closely with other schools in the local area." said April.

Head Pupils Amelie and Agnes commented too. 'We appreciate that we have fresh food and water and all of God's creation.'

Remembrance

We marked Armistice Day with a minute’s silence kindly led by Reverend Fritha in our beautiful churchyard. Owl Class children read the names of the fallen men from World War 1 and World War 2 from our community. Isabelle in Hedgehog Class is a distant relative of one of the soldiers who gave his life in service during conflict. If you are interested to find out more about the men behind the names, Stan Lapidge has researched and forwarded fascinating details which can be found below. Thank you as always to Reverend Fritha for her service and time.

St. Andrew's Day Assembly

On a very cold St Andrew's Day, Wilmcote school took part in the worship at St Andrew's Church, Wilmcote.

Christmas Church Service

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Church Service led by Reverend Fritha.  The children read beautifully and sang wonderfully, reminding us all of the true meaning of Christmas - the birth of the Lord Jesus into our lives.

One of our parents said 'To all at Wilmcote. I just wanted to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and thank you all for this morning's Church service. I thought you were ALL ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. You have filled my heart with joy and really got me into the Christmas spirit! What a fantastic school, filled with wonderful people. Well done everyone.'
